Additional Repayments

Some Lenders allow extra payments to be made on top of the normal standard monthly repayment.  These are also known as ‘Capital Repayments’. Where such ‘Capital Repayments’ are made they will reduce the total amount of interest payable on a reducing balance loan.

APR

APR stands for Annual Percentage Rate and it is a standard calculation that all Lenders have to use within the industry.  The APR is a measurement of the total cost of borrowing money, including interest charges and product fees shown as a percentage, which makes it easier to make a fair comparison between different mortgages or loans on offer.  The APR must be the most prominent piece of financial information shown on any credit advert.

Arrears

Payments not made by a Borrower on time on a loan or credit card, this is usually when the Borrower has fallen behind with the normal monthly repayments on an account.

Autoscore

The process of using specialised online credit search facilities to identify an applicant's credit status.  Many Lenders will use a point scoring system allocating varying points for different pieces of personal information such as age, credit history, time in employment, income, etc.  An acceptance score may be set by the Lender.  The growth in automated technology has led to a huge increase in autoscoring systems.  However, in the secured loan marketplace many Lenders also use manual underwriting systems to ensure that every application has a reasonable chance of being accepted.

The overall cost for comparison is 10.8% APR variable. The actual rate will depend upon your circumstances. Ask for a personalised illustration. Our rates start from 7.9% APR variable. We also have a range of plans with rates up to 17.5% APR allowing us to help customers even with the most severe credit problems. If you are thinking of consolidating existing borrowing you should be aware that you will be extending the terms of the debt and increasing the total amount you repay. A fee of between 0% and 10% of the loan may be charged depending on credit history and ability to prove income. The amount of fee will depend on your circumstances, however, we estimate that it will be 5% of the loan amount.
